Tom Lohner Bio and Images
While the interview already covers so much, I thought why not post a bio and a few works about the artist. Taken from his website (with permission) here is a little bit more about the Artist Tom Lohner.
-Tom honestly can say that this is what he believes in. He believes that artists view the world differently. Rather than seeing a rusty nail, artists see silver, browns, oranges; golds – swirling shapes and flat surfaces.
His art’s ingredients might be put together by the universe Walt Disney built, Tim Burton’s characters, Quentin Tarantino’s movie settings and atmospheres as well as the melancholic tones of Alice in Chains or powerful chords of several post industrial bands.
Tom always knew from the start that he had to follow this passion and make it his profession. This lead the from Austria originating artist already in 1999 to a half year education under the wings of the US pastels artist Judith Jay in Monterey USA, as well to do a diploma in Graphic Design, which he received from the Ortwein Design College, Graz, Austria.
After co-founding his design/art collective „LosLohBros“ with his brother Andy, both brothers had a number of exhibitions resulting for them to move to London in March 2010. There they did both – art and design to the highest standards. Tom soon received an offer for the art director‘s position of the London based event & TV-production agency CC-Lab (Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Smashing Pumpkins, Maroon5…).MMM – The Duchess of Wind, Sold, Acrylic on wood and fabric / 70 x 50 cm, 2017 Tom’s third piece of the Magic Mannequin Museum series
Next to working long but great hours, Tom kept true to his art with numerous int. exhibition that showcased his work from the finest galleries in Vienna to huge art shows in the United States to pop up galleries and venues in Japan.
Pushing for new challenges and going beyond what we already know, always in search for the “WOW” are some of Tom’s main focuses – in SHORT: A US sunshine rocker based in old fashioned – historical Austria.
